The Republic of El Salvador is located in Central America, bordered by Guatemala to the West, Honduras to the North, Nicaragua to the East, and the Pacific Ocean to the South. The topography consist in lush mountain ranges, volcanoes, lakes, farmlands and a narrow coastal belt featuring some of the most beautiful beaches and right hand point breaks in the world.
The thought of El Salvador for many people conjures thoughts of civil war, political strife, poverty and danger; however much has changed over the past 21 years, peace was signed in 1992, starting a new era of democracy and stability. El Salvador now offers an entirely new experience to the surf traveller.
El Salvador has two seasons; the rainy season moths from May through October see the largest and most consistent swells with average wave height in the head high range, and larger 8′ to 12′ swells coming through fairly consistently. The Dry season of November trough April typically sees offshore winds, sunny skies, and consistent surf in the waist to head high range. Less frequent than in the wet season large swells do roll through this time of the year.
El Salvador invites you to enjoy of its waves with water temperatures around 80 to 85 degrees year round. Even though El Salvador is the smallest country in Central America, with only 320 km. of coast line in the Pacific Ocean, it offers an incredible number of right point breaks. Most of them have cobblestone bottom like the World Class Punta Roca, Punta El Sunzal or Punta Mango.
